It’s currently not possible for apps to send notifications to the admin home page, however i believe it’s important for apps to communicate critical status back to store owners.
Many merchants don’t have valid contact emails listed against the store, or they may have irrelevant emails (such as their customer service email) setup there where staff has no idea of the underlying apps running or the relevancy of such emails.
When critical updates arise which may cause breaking changes and severe impact to the merchant’s store, it becomes extremely difficult to contact them, or they are contacted and simply forget about it.
Whilst i understand shopify may not want apps injecting all kinds of messages and bloating the home page, how about a traffic light system where apps can send a simply green, amber or red status back to shopify, and shopify can aggregate all these into a single ‘overall app health status’ for the merchant.
If merchants want, they can click into it and see which apps need attention and click into the app to see relevant details that need action.
