App Store Review team can issue arbitrary infraction that does not relate to any App Store Rules?

One of my apps has underwent routine check by App Store Review team, and they mentioned an issue with my app, which is not related to any rules mentioned in the App Store Rules, my app did not break any rules, but I still got warned and threatened to be demoted / partner account termination.

Out of interest, what was the issue they raised?

My app has an theme app extension , its a button on legacy customer account page, that links to the order status page of selected order, so that customer can change their shipping address on the order status page extension.

The button is named “Edit shipping address”, the text can be changed by end user, but reviewer insisted that the button should show a modal on the customer account page , to let user change address, without going to order status page.

Ah yeah, I’ve had a few similar cases. I’ve found you can push back a little bit, just provide the reason why you’re doing it the way you are.

But also, it’s good to remember that the Shopify reviewers do look at a ton of apps and know their stuff. There have been a few times where I’m like, “That’s a shit way to do it,” then I make the change and I don’t know why I didn’t have it like that from the start haha.
