We have a Shopify store with around 12,000 products.
Currently, we are using a third-party product feed app to manage and send products to different platforms.
We are now exploring whether we can replace the third-party app with Shopify’s native functionality and native apps.
Native apps we are considering
-
Google Merchant Center (GMC): Google & YouTube
-
Microsoft Merchant Center (MMC): Microsoft Channel
-
Awin: Awin – Affiliate Marketing
We want to understand whether these native apps can cover our requirements.
Our requirement
We don’t want to send all 12,000 products to every platform.
For example:
Shopify Store → 12,000 products
-
Google → 8,000 products
-
Microsoft → 8,000 products
-
Awin → 8,000 products
The remaining products should stay in Shopify but should not be included in the respective feed.
Current concern
For Google & YouTube and Microsoft Channel, there are product-level availability/toggle options that allow us to include or exclude products.
However, we don’t see the same type of product-level Include/Exclude option for Awin – Affiliate Marketing.
So we would like to understand how this can be handled using Shopify’s native functionality.
Questions
-
Can we use Shopify Catalogs to create separate product selections for each platform?
-
Can Collections, Tags, or Metafields be used to control which products are included or excluded from each feed?
-
For Awin, how can we exclude specific products before they are sent to Awin?
-
If direct feed import is possible, can the feed be automatically updated/scheduled when product information changes?
-
If native Shopify functionality cannot handle this requirement, what is the closest Shopify-native solution that can replace a third-party product feed app?
Main goal
We want to keep all 12,000 products in Shopify, but have control over which products are sent to each platform.
Any guidance from Shopify experts on the best native approach would be greatly appreciated.
