Can the order routing function route to a location that has inventory zero for the line item?

Hey Colby, I found a workaround that uses cart attributes (we tag the order with their nearest location) and using flow to reroute orders based on the tagged location.

Thought i’d share in case it would help you.

Nice work around – although this wouldn’t work for our scenario as the shipping rate calculations at checkout are driven by the fulfillment location.

Hi, it looks like this is somehting Charlie answers to. We built on OMS on top of Shopify, and you will be able to apply fulfilment constraints in no code, based on products or cart attributes. You could say for example that when a cart is over a certain amount, you always want to route from Warehouse type locations. It forces then warehouse to fulfill.

Unfortunately this isn’t relevant nor helpful… Rocco.

Hey folks - thanks for flagging this. I can see how this would be useful, especially when the intended routing behaviour is to keep the whole order at a single preferred location.

I’ve submitted a feature request for this (essentially variant stock = 0 + overselling enabled should be equal to variant stock > 0 in order routing logic) and brought it up for discussion. I don’t have a guarantee this will be implemented or timeline to share, but I’ve captured the specific ask here and feedback like this is what helps drive change.

I hope this helps!
