Cannot Generate Admin API Access Token – Store Active but No Permission

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to connect my Shopify store (bblessnature.myshopify.com) to an external CRM (GoHighLevel).

Here’s the situation:

  • I am the developer of a Shopify app under my Partner account (2Bbless).

  • The app shows 1 install.

  • The store bblessnature.myshopify.com is active.

  • I can log into the admin successfully.

  • The store is not paused, frozen, or closed.

However, I cannot generate an Admin API access token.

What I’m trying to do:

  • Create a Custom App inside the store

  • Install it

  • Reveal the Admin API access token

  • Use it to connect to GoHighLevel

The problem:
It seems I do not have the correct permissions to generate the token or fully manage custom apps.

Questions:

  1. What exact permissions are required to generate an Admin API access token?

  2. Does this require full store owner access?

  3. If I am not the store owner, what permissions must the owner grant me?

  4. Is there any other reason why the Admin API token would not appear after installing a custom app?

To clarify:

  • The store is active.

  • I can log in.

  • This is not a store status issue.

  • This appears to be a permissions / role access issue.

Hi @Marie_Christine_Gagn, you need the App development > develop permission.
