What are the tentative timelines for review and approval?
By removing custom app support you’ve forced native apps, which is fine, but is also a massive blocker when it takes a month for the app to even get reviewed. If it’s true that you move back to the end of the line upon a failed review that means it could be many months just to resolve a small issue. We use an app to sync shopify data on our client’s behalf and now have no way to accomplish that since custom apps can’t be created. This is a big problem. Please solve it.
Originally submitted our app on Jan 30. Denied for a small bug on Feb 23. Resubmitted with the fix the same day. Still waiting… This process is incredibly disappointing as these delays are having financial impacts on our business.
Hello,
I Submitted the Feb 25,
Did they review your app ?
Thanks for your answer, it will help me see if it is soon my turn.
Not yet, still waiting to assign reviewer status.
For those following along…
As of right now, 20 days since app submission for review (07-MAR-2026).
As of this moment, I have no idea where our app stands in the queue. There has not been a reviewer assigned according to the app dashboard.
In another thread, someone said expect at least 30 days?
Although our app passes all MCP and technical guidance, if the reviewer has any concerns, I am troubled that the process puts a revised app to the end of the line. Is this accurate?
UPDATE: Reviewer assigned yesterday. Approved after 2 hours.
Entire process took around 5 to 6 weeks.
Timeline:
Submitted - Feb 19
Assigned Reviewer - Mar 28
Approved - Mar 28
We submitted our application on the 9th of February and got a review on the 5th of March about two small things that needed fixing. We fixed those in less than 12 hours.
We are still waiting. Support does not give us any more info, no one knows anything.
Being pushed to the back of the queue when your app is already reviewed and you just need to fix 1 or 2 things doesn’t make any sense.
~50 days have passed and our APP still cannot be distributed.
Hello,
Did they assign you a reviewer ?
Thanks for your anwser !
No. It just says “We’re reviewing your submission—check your email for updates”.
You should have thought about the scale of the problem once you decided to replace and deprecate the API key in favor of the stupid apps, not to mention that you need them approved and paid before you can use them for basic API access.
We’ve been waiting for almost 2 months, the first review the shopify tester didn’t even look at our instructions and we are a whitelabel software company, they used an incorrect dashboard url to test even though it was clearly outlined in the testing instructions and video and passed all checks.
We then resubmitted and it’s been about a month with no replies anywhere and just stuck on waiting to assign reviewer.
This is outrageous customer service.
@MarkT , as much as I appreciate this post, we have submitted our app for review on Jan 26’ and it has been in queue for more than a month right now. We are daily reaching to support and we are getting constant systematic replies that it is in progress. This is causing a major difficulties for our customers as well, I kindly request you to look at this as soon as possible and provide us an exact timeline which would be of great help for us
Ya having to use apps to get API access is a huge bottleneck. The app we are trying to get approved is basically just for getting API access with partner stores.
You don’t need to do that, you can just create a custom app.
My understanding is that a custom app only generates credentials scoped to the store it’s created in. My use case requires API access to multiple independent partner stores outside of my organization.
does this timeline apply to re-submissions after receiving feedback? the feedback was on 3 elements so not extensive at all
Hi Mark,
Thank you for the detailed and transparent update, genuinely appreciated.
I have one quick question: after submitting my app (Karoohi Marketing Popups, Reference: 106537), I realized I may have forgotten to include my demo store password in the submission. The password is a simple, commonly used three-digit numeric code, the kind most people would try first. Is there any way to update just the test credentials without withdrawing and resubmitting? I’d hate to go to the back of the queue for a one-line fix when the app itself is fully ready and the pre-submission checklist was complete.
Thank you again.
@MarkT Requesting to expedite the process as soon as possible. The way it’s going, I don’t know when the app review process will actually complete. There is no clear timeline that we can get from the Shopify Support team as well.
This should be at one the most top priority items at Shopify if not already as it is affecting the end customer a lot.
For us, it’s about to reach a 40 days mark from the 1st re-submission already. Please look into this on priority.
