Hi all, I’m testing the global catalog media filter from the Sept 15 update (searching by media type) and can’t get it to return anything.
- Endpoint: POST https://catalog.shopify.com/api/ucp/mcp (anonymous, no token)
- Profile: https://shopify.dev/ucp/agent-profiles/draft/valid-with-capabilities.json
- Responses confirm dev.shopify.catalog.global at the draft version
With a request like this:
{“jsonrpc”:“2.0”,“method”:“tools/call”,“id”:1,“params”:{“name”:“search_catalog”,“arguments”:{“meta”:{“ucp-agent”:{“profile”:“https://shopify.dev/ucp/agent-profiles/draft/valid-with-capabilities.json"}},“catalog”:{“query”:"sectional sofa”,“filters”:{“media”:[{“type”:“model_3d”}],“ships_to”:{“country”:“US”}},“pagination”:{“limit”:10}}}}}
Results in: an empty products array and no messages.
The same search without the 3d type filter returns products whose media includes “type”: “model_3d” with GLB sources (for example the Midnight-Madness Sectional from American Furniture Outlet), so the 3D data is there, but doesn’t seem to work as a filter yet.
Questions:
- Is [{“type”:“model_3d”}] the right value, or does the filter need something more?
- Does it need the token tier or other access rather than just anonymous requests?
- Is the filter still rolling out, or is 3D media still being indexed?
Many thanks for the help! I’m a new Shopify dev, so apologies in advance for my ignorance ![]()
