We’ve had multiple reports of bugs that started today affecting merchants across multiple versions of Shopify POS.
Affected apps so far (both use Cart Transform, lineExpand and lineUpdate):
Bug #1 - saving / loading carts with cart transform line items
Merchants are getting checkout unavailable when they save a cart with line items from our app in it, and then try to load the cart. We are unable to reproduce in our own account.
We already advised that they Reset Account on their iPad to clear data in case it’s a data corruption issue, and this did not work.

Bug #2: POS forcing staff attribution during checkout
We are also unable to reproduce this

Hi all, just checking in as we are continuing to get tickets on these issues. Can someone please take a look?

Hi,
Thanks for the details and videos (I can’t access video 2 though).
What we think is happening is that when a cart with Cart Transform line items is saved and later re-loaded for checkout on a shop where attribution is enforced, checkout can fail.
Staff attribution in POS changed recently, automatic attribution is rolling out on by default from July 6 (POS v11.9) for shops that hadn’t customized their attribution settings (Staff attribution improvements in POS - Shopify Changelog).
One thing to try meanwhile is checking the staff attribution settings in the POS sales channel. If a shop got auto-enabled and doesn’t need enforced attribution, switching it back to Optional should unblock checkout for now.
Our team is looking into this issue and will follow up as we learn more.
Hi @h-shopify, thank you for the updates. On the video #2 I put it here https://drive.google.com/file/d/19w-1pqOj_Uu3meWX6-t53OUEvfoaOVIA/view?usp=sharing, hopefully it helps to diagnose this issue. And I also shared your solution with the merchant, I’ll let you know if it fixes their issue.
Please keep us posted on the Bug #1 updates, thank you

We’ve had multiple reports of bugs that started today affecting merchants across multiple versions of Shopify POS.
Thanks for uploading the video. To help narrow, could you provide:
- POS versions reported as affected
- Whether the POS app has been updated to the latest (and if so, does the issue persist?)
Thank you.
@h-shopify I asked the customer for this info. Do you have any updates on the first issue?
Thank you
@h-shopify Thank you for the guidance. The steps you provided seem to have addressed both reported issues.
That said, we’d still appreciate a software fix so merchants don’t encounter this behavior and our team doesn’t need to manually provide these troubleshooting steps each time. Please keep us posted on any updates or plans for a permanent fix.
Thank you again!
Glad to hear those steps worked for now. Completely understandable, I’ve raised this issue to the appropriate team and is on their radar.
If you have them, please do still share the POS versions the merchants are using. That will help us verify whether a prior fix we shipped is working as intended.
Thank you.
@h-shopify no, we had merchants on both 11.10.0 and 11.9.x report this issue. And having merchants on an older version update to the latest version didn’t resolve anything.
