I just launched my first Shopify app — Trustify (Product Reviews & Q&A) — and I’d love to get some honest feedback from the community before I go all-in on marketing.
What problem does it solve?
Most review apps publish reviews instantly — which means spam, fake reviews, and inappropriate content can show up on your store without you knowing. Trustify is different. Every review is moderated before it goes live. Your brand stays protected, always.
What makes it stand out?
✅ Pre-publish manual/AI moderation — nothing goes live without your approval
✅ Photo & video reviews from real customers
✅ Customer review editing (up to 5 times)
✅ Product Q&A with a full dashboard
✅ Discount rewards for customers who leave reviews
✅ AI-based auto-moderation (paid plan)
✅ Star ratings on product AND collection pages
✅ Verified Buyer badges
✅ Text search through reviews and Q&A
Our philosophy:
"We believe authentic social proof comes from real resolutions — not performative replies. When a merchant genuinely fixes a customer's problem, that customer updates their own review. A 1-star review becoming a 4-star review tells future shoppers more than any public response ever could."
I’m offering a free trial to anyone who wants to try it out — no strings attached. Just honest feedback.
Congrats on the launch. As a fellow Shopify app builder, a few things worth knowing for the first 90 days:
The “moderated by default” angle is good but it is going to fight against the merchant default of wanting reviews live fast. Make sure the install flow makes that one extra step feel like a feature, not a chore. Show a sample admin queue on the listing page so merchants know what the moderation step looks like.
Photo and video uploads are where most review apps eat storage. Watch your S3 / CDN spend in months 2-3; that is where new app builders get surprised.
The discount-rewards-for-reviews feature is a gray area against the App Store policy on incentivized reviews. Keep it strictly for ON-STORE reviews (your widget) and not anywhere that could be interpreted as an App Store review. There is an active discussion about this exact policy here on the dev community.
For “Verified Buyer” badge - tying it to the order ID rather than the email helps prevent abuse when customers create multiple accounts.
Good luck. The reviews space is crowded but moderation-first is a real differentiator if you can hold the line on it.
Hey, thank you so much for taking the time to share this — really appreciate it from a fellow builder.
On moderation UX: Great point on the onboarding framing — already have the admin queue screenshot on the listing so merchants know exactly what to expect.
On storage costs: Already have file size limits in place, but your point on monitoring CDN spend in months 2-3 is well noted. I’ll keep a close eye on that as installs grow.
On discount rewards: The feature is strictly for on-store product reviews and the copy makes that clear. Good to know there’s an active discussion on this — I’ll follow that thread.
On Verified Buyer: Already verifying against order ID rather than email — so customers can’t game it with multiple accounts. Glad to know that’s the right approach.
Thanks again — this is exactly the kind of feedback that’s hard to find. Really helpful.
Thank you !
I have replaced the screenshots, hoping they look better now !
Using a transactional email service for reliable deliverability — works well so far!
