I’m unable to create an App Automation Token. I’m attempting to follow instructions as defined in relation this recent May 6th App deployment in CI/CD developer changelog entry, and from the Shopify dev docs for Manage App Automation Tokens.
The instructions for creating the new App Automation Token directs to the Dev Dashboard > Settings > App Automation Token section. The problem is that the App Automation Token Section isn’t present in our App. [Screenshot below]. Is this a potential permission issue?
@NickWesselman is there a way to request it be rolled out for our app? Our existing token has expired as of a couple days ago, and with the update we are unable to generate a new token with the previous method, and are without the ability to generate a new token with the new method leaving us in a state unable to deploy.
Am I understanding this correctly that App Automation Tokens are now generated separately for each app and are only valid for six months?
I’m asking because we currently have 9 production apps and 9 development apps, which means that every six months we would need to generate 18 new tokens and update them in CI for each project individually.
Previously, in Shopify Partners, tokens were generated per workspace, so we only had to manage 2 tokens in total.
Are there any plans to bring back a workspace-level solution in the future, or will this remain app-specific? In my opinion, the current approach creates a significant operational overhead, while the previous solution was much more convenient.
Following up on the App Automation Tokens / RBAC rollout thread — our organization is also affected and we can’t generate new tokens because Organization settings haven’t been enabled for us yet. This is blocking our deployment pipelines and a lot of clients
Could you please enable RBAC / role-based access for our org so we can generate App Automation Tokens?

The App Automation Token issuance screen isn’t yet available in my Shopify Dev Dashboard, while I can still create a new Partner CLI Token even after it expires.
Does this mean our organization hasn’t been migrated to RBAC yet, and should I just wait for the migration to complete?
