We’ve recently developed and launched two apps on Shopify.
For the first app, we were advised that we would need 50 merchants to be eligible for inclusion in the Shopify App Store. However, for the second app — launched around the same time — we were informed that the requirement is now 50 merchants plus $1 million GMV.
Can you please clarify how the eligibility criteria could differ so significantly between two apps launched within the same timeframe? This inconsistency is quite confusing, and we’d really appreciate a clear explanation.

I wanted to confirm whether our current classification as a Payment App affects the GMV requirements, as the threshold seems higher for this category. Given that we operate as a Loyalty/Reward Points Plugin, would reclassifying to the Loyalty/Reward Points category adjust the GMV expectations accordingly?
