App embed deep link issue

We noticed a problem with app embed deep linking this morning.

When using the app embed deep link to install our app embed to a theme the routing appears to fail and reverts to app settings in the theme editor.

The deep link technically works, but since I get reverted to app settings it’s causing a MX issue. Having to navigate back to app embeds will inevitably cause confusion for our merchants.

Anyone else experience this?

is not working anymore.

I noticed it is not selecting the Apps embed (context=apps) when you open the url generated to activate the app embed with

https:///admin/themes/current/editor?context=apps&template=${template}&activateAppId={api_key}/{handle}

But when I click it manually, the location.href is populated correctly.

We are facing the same issue.

I have a similar problem with admin-links, the right app (iframe) loads, but then is redirected to the main app (iframe) page.

It’s still an issue for us. It seems like the block at the top gets activated, no matter which one we link to. Is this a known bug?

For us, the new created development store is seeing a similar issue.
Clicking on “Customize” in the “themes” in the “online store” shows this error:

Failed to load the page

This page is not compatible with the editor due to one of the following issues:

  • Page is redirecting to an unsupported URL
  • Page failed to load due to an error

The app embed deep link shows similar error.

And this happens to some other themes too. I just create a brand new development store, the “dawn” and " debut-vintage-theme" are both busted.

@Jamie I’m having a similar issue. I tested with an old app of mine, and the deep link works fine on the new dev store, so I don’t think the dev store is the problem. It’s either the new developer dashboard (if you created the app from there), or it’s an issue on Shopify’s side

I m a bit confused. Are you saying you see a similar error I see here? Our app is not listed yet. I m just doing testing right now and the deep link or the whole theme editor is somehow broken to me.

Weird. I have been using chrome all the time and it’s broken on chrome. Switching to another brower(safari, edge) did solve the problem!
