Hello all, I’m trying to create a public app in Shopify store for my company but have challenges to choose between private and public app and also figuring out if the private app would work for customers, kindly help with any contact at Shopify if they can help

Our intention of building the app was to just to get OAuth clientId and secret for authentication. Do we still need to go through the full marketplace approval process incase we want to distribute this app across stores ?
You can install a custom app on multiple stores, if that’s what you want to do, see: Select a distribution method
This does no require a review by the app store team.
You could also have a app on the app store but the page is hidden from search, and you would share that “secret” link with merchants who would install the app. This would require a review by the app store team however.
Documentation says that custom app can be installed on multiple stores within the same organization.
Can you please confirm if the app can be installed on multiple stores that don’t have a common parent ?
You would have to create a custom app per store if not under the same organization.
Thanks for quick reply Luke. I don’t think we can create a custom app per store. For public app even if we want it to be hidden from marketplace do we still need to follow the full review process
Yes, you can ‘unlist’ a public app, but you must still go through the full review process.
