App Store autocomplete does not include "Best Match" result

I noticed what looks like a bug with Shopify App Store autocomplete.

For some terms, autocomplete does not include the “Best Match” result.

Is this the expected behavior?

Thanks,
Tom

My app, Flair (Flair Product Badges + CRO), has used the Flair brand since 2017, has a 5.0 rating with 200+ reviews, is Built for Shopify, and is the #1 Best match when searching for “flair”.

Sadly the old days are gone and we’re now in the age of A Better, Clearer App Store for Everyone - #8 by Luke :joy:

But Flair is completely missing from autocomplete. Instead, it shows two newer apps that have added the word “Flair” to their names.

This been going on for a at least 5 months. New apps get better keyword ranking than old apps regardless. It is infuriating, especially when they forced 100s of apps to change their name to “something unique” on 2024 then a few weeks ago post the pap in the above link as if they didn’t do this in 2024!

I’ve also noticed a sharp decline in branded App Store visits recently, so I’m concerned this autocomplete issue may be impacting merchants trying to find Flair.

Same here. The decline is high for all of our apps. Initially we attributed it to the massive increase in Jan. of AI-assisted/generated apps but over time we realized that it is due to changes in search, similar to what you have shown.

Could someone from Shopify take a look?

Shopify has purged tons of authentic reviews in the past few weeks. See the many posts here. It appears that nothing is being done to fix this. There are tons of fake reviews and they do nothing. We have provided Shopify evidence of a malicious review containing 100% lies and they refuse to remove them.

We thought archiving reviews was horrible (merchant could have used your app for months before leaving a review that provided in-depth feedback but because they went out of business they review is archived. Someone using the app for 5 minutes leaving a 20 word review is not archived because they’re still in business) but now they are purging reviews for stores that are in business for no reason!

We’ve been doing this since 2015. Shopify has does nothing but destroy the app store for long-time partners. Their policies appear to be mostly feckless and/or not applied uniformly and their various posts about improving things would normally be laughable but, after spending 10+ years working extremely hard to build a business, and to see this happen, it’s no laughing matter.

same here, it’s random, pulling some freshly released apps before trusted ones.

On a keyword where our app ranks first, it’s never appearing in the autocomplete

Not sure what’s the rules.
