Hi - I just wanted to bump this post that doesn’t seem to have gotten any attention but is fairly alarming: Clarification needed: Payment method behavior after subscription cancellation (May 4, 2026 change)
It seems that merchants were made aware of this but there’s been no mention of it that I have seen to subscription API users. This will have a major impact on subscription platforms and flows like win-backs.
Are there any more details anywhere about this?
This just references the “cancelled” status but its for a non-technical audience so I’m concerned that perhaps you might also be doing the same for FAILED or EXPIRED status. This would be a mistake for failed for sure (customers may want to update the payment method).
Any information you have and can share as soon as possible would be appreciated - seems like there’s a hard deadline of May 4th to get this figured out for our merchants.
