Bundle configuration section missing from variant details pages in Shopify Admin

Hi Shopify team,

Our bundle configuration UI is no longer appearing on the product variant details page in Shopify Admin. We reproduced this on a Shopify Plus development store on October 30, 2026. We do not know when it first stopped appearing.

Expected behavior

For a bundle variant with component relationships, the UI registered at admin.product-variant-details.configuration.render should appear on the variant details page.

Actual behavior

The variant page displays the usual options, pricing, inventory, shipping, and metafields, but there is no bundle configuration section, loading state, or extension error shown there. Shopify’s Dev Console lists the extension and both configuration targets.

Configuration

The extension is a ui_extension. Both targets remain declared and are included in the built JavaScript:

The UI uses Preact with @shopify/ui-extensions 2026.10.2 and Shopify CLI 5.0.0.

Reproduction

  1. Use an existing app-owned bundle product with multiple variants and native component relationships.
  2. Register both product and variant configuration targets as above.
  3. Start a fresh development preview with shopify app dev and wait until it reports ready.
  4. Confirm that Dev Console lists fixed-bundle with both configuration targets.
  5. Open one of the bundle variants from the product’s variants list, or navigate directly to its variant details page.
  6. The variant configuration section is absent.

Checks performed

  • An Admin GraphQL query using API 2026-10 confirms requiresComponents: true for the affected variant. productVariantComponents.nodes contains two component variants, with quantities 2 and 3. The bundle data is still present.
  • The extension builds successfully, and the generated bundle registers both targets.
  • Restarting the preview and reloading the page did not restore the section.
  • Changing only the configuration extension’s api_version from 2026-10 to 2026-04, while keeping the source and SDK unchanged, produced the same result. We then restored 2026-10.
  • After removing the development preview and returning to the app’s existing released version, the same variant page still lacked the section. This is not limited to the new preview.
  • The product-level “Bundled products” card renders successfully, including the message directing us to each variant to check its components. The configuration section is missing on the individual variant details page.

The target is still listed in the 2026-10 product variant targets documentation.

Has anything changed in Shopify Admin’s rendering or eligibility rules for this target? Is there an additional requirement beyond the app’s bundle ownership, requiresComponents, and component relationships that we should check? If this is a known issue, is there a recommended workaround?

We have not confirmed the root cause, so any guidance on further diagnostics would be appreciated.
