This post is part feature-request, part seeking clarity.
I’ve decided to collate the different requests about the feature request for native bundles / Cart Transform working with Selling Plans and subscriptions.
It’s our number one requested feature from merchants using our bundles app - and I’m sure it’s the same for other bundle apps out there.
I also spoke with David Cameron (not the ex British PM) at Editions.dev about this and didn’t get much information. It didn’t sound like a priority, which was concerning given how requested this feature is.
Looking for clarity on this feature please:
- Is it being worked on / is it on the roadmap? Or has it been cancelled?
- If not, is the expectation that we ignore Cart Transform altogether and use the Discounts API to create bundles, or some other method? It seems to be more widely supported.
- Will there be a preview phase with an AMA about how this functionality will work?
- If so, are there any soft dates/quarters the team is targeting for preview and/or release?

We aren’t currently supporting
Selling Plans
with bundles, but we have plans to enable compatibility later this year (2023). We’ll keep sending an update as soon as the capability is available.
The solution being worked on was as follows:
We have two cases:
- Subscriptions at the Bundle level: e.g. A Monthly Kit subscription.
- Subscriptions at the Component level: e.g. A Coffee Bundle kit that contains 1 Coffee Machine and a 12 month coffee subscription.
We have two operations, merge
and expand
. The current scenarios are:
Expand operation:
- Subscription at the parent level: A selling plan could be assigned to the parent product and then expand the items.
- Subscription at the component level: After expanding the item, a selling plan is assigned to a component.
Merge operation:
- Subscription at the parent level: after merging the items, a selling plan is assigned to the parent.
- Subscription at the component level: A selling plan is assigned to the items to be merged.
A year and half later there has been no updates.

Yes, bundles and selling plans compatibility is on our roadmap and we expect for it to launch within the next 6 months.
Almost a year later and no updates on this either.
