Changing application_url in shopify.app.toml for production

Hi Shopify Team :waving_hand:
We have a payment extension app that’s already live and installed by several merchants.

We’re currently considering migrating our backend to a new infrastructure, so I need to update the following fields to point to the new production domain:

  • application_url in the shopify.app.toml

  • payment_session_url and other related URLs in the shopify.extension.toml

Before proceeding, I wanted to confirm:

  • Is there any downtime or session loss risk during this transition for existing merchants?

  • Are there any special considerations or recommended steps when updating these URLs for a live payment extension app?
