Feature request: Add attributes to update operation

We have multiple clients where we require the possibility to run an update operation that sets attributes. Currently we have to put our code in a checkout ui to update single lines and a cart transform for the bundles which causes errors and makes things complicated and unreliable.

+1 this would be an extremely useful addition to the cart transform function that would enable a whole host of use cases.

Hey folks - thanks for reaching out :waving_hand:

Just out of curiosity, are you encountering issues if you try to include attributes as an input target?

Hopefully I’m understanding the feature request correctly on my part here - if you folks are open to sharing a use case I’m happy to see if we can find a workaround or at the very least open up an official feature request log on our end here for you. Hope to hear from you soon!

Its not about the input, but the output. Being able to just include new attributes in the Result. So for example: i have a product with a metafield x and i want to run an update operation that adds an attribute to this item. Other features that would be nice include updating the image of an expanded Item. (This would be great for features like a mystery box.)

Hey @andre-hyghstreet , thanks for following up here. Just to clarify, you’re wanting to see the output after you add the attributes? I believe you are correct and that this isn’t currently supported, but just wanted to confirm my understanding with you and once I hear back from you I’ll touch base with our product team to see if this is on our roadmap so I can get a concrete answer for you folks

So basically i would like to see this kind of attribute field on the lineUpdate operation.

Hey again @andre-hyghstreet, thanks for following up, that definitely makes sense.

I’ll reach out to our product team to log this as a feature request.

I’ll update this thread once I have feedback from them. Thanks again for taking the time to provide this feedback, speak with you as soon as I have more info to share

Hi @andre-hyghstreet - just looping back with you here as I was able to speak with the product team. Right now, adding an attribute field to the lineUpdate operation isn’t something on our roadmap officially, but I did want to touch base with you in the thread here since I was able to get the feature request logged on my end for you and our developers are aware of it.

Can’t guarantee a turnaround time for this or if/when it will be added, but our developers do seem to think it’s a fair request for sure and will take a look to see if it’s possible to implement.

Hope this helps!
