Feature request: Monthly recurring billing with a lifetime discount

Hi Shopify team,

Would it be possible to support monthly recurring billing with a lifetime discount on App Store listings?

At the moment, listings are limited to four plans, so there’s no way to represent this pricing model. It seems like a relatively small addition that would make app pricing more accurate for developers who offer lifetime discounts.

Just wanted to put it on your radar and see if it’s something that could be considered.

Thanks for flagging this.You’re right that there isn’t currently a public plan option that represents a monthly recurring plan with a permanent/lifetime discount.

Before I pass this along, could you share a bit more about the intended use case?

  • Is this discount meant to be available publicly to all new merchants, or only to selected/grandfathered merchants?
  • How would you expect it to appear on the App Store listing? For example, original monthly price plus discounted monthly price, a “lifetime discount” label, or just the discounted monthly price?
  • Is the main limitation the four public plan slots, the lack of a permanent monthly discount option, or both?

here is the context:

  • The Use Case: It’s for merchants who prefer one-time payments over recurring fees. The idea is to let them pay a larger amount upfront (like 2 years of value) to buy out the app for a lifetime.

  • App Store Display: A simple “Monthly / Lifetime” toggle tab positioned right above the pricing cards, just like a standard Monthly/Annual switch.

  • The Limitation: Right now, the 4-plan limit makes it impossible to offer a lifetime alternative for every tier. The current workaround would require duplicating all 4 plans as lifetime options (needing 8 slots total), which the system doesn’t allow. A dedicated UI toggle solves this without Shopify having to actually lift the 4-plan limit for the standard layout.
