Flow Template Extension

Hi all,

I’m about to start working on my first Flow template extension. I’m wondering, if after we release our Flow template extension publicly, let’s say we need to make changes or improvements to the template, how do all of our merchants get our updates and changes? Are they automatically applied, or do merchants have to manually do something? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you so much for your time

Workflows are copied from the templates. Once a workflow is in a merchant’s shop, it’s a unique thing and cannot be updated as you don’t know what it does. You can update your tasks if you own those.

Regarding updating the templates, you can do that as often as you need. But if you need your merchants to change something, you’ll need to work with them.

Hey @paul_n RE: updating the flow templates, is it true that if we update these we may need to wait up to 5 days for any new app updates to go through as this is how long it takes for the team to check to ensure the templates are still all good?

I think you are asking about the approval process? We are working on a better process that will not block app deployments for Flow templates. It may still take a bit for the template to be available, as the Flow team will review like before.

This will be great. We can’t wait. Not including new Flow templates for exactly this reason at the moment.

Also chatted with @Dave_McV in another thread about how we’d LOVE the ability to pull in app provided flow ‘branches’ or sequences from directly within the editor.

E.g. a specific branch for users that tell us in a call they have same day shipping rules or a branch for a merchant that tells us they have subscriptions or a branch for if they are using BNPL payments that we need to turn partial editing on for👍

Paul, I just deployed app with template but I’m bit confused. My release was put on hold, because template needs review. According to the docs:

I should submit a request for review, but couldn’t find that. Does that happen automatically now?

I’m also confused as my staging app release got put on hold as well. How that should be typically handled?

Edit: Nevermind! Found it under Versions > latest version > Submit for review button in top right corner

Still I would appreciate reply about staging app. I submitted both for review.

I think you should be unblocked now as we cleared our queue before we left for the break.

Hi Patrick!

I just deployed my flow template but am confused now and it is similar to your case.

When I check Versions > latest version I do not see any submit for review button. Am I in the wrong page?

I would really appreciate if you could share your experience on this.

There is no longer a submit for review button. It’s done automatically.
