How are we meant to request assess to create custom apps as collaborators?

Hi,

We are a development team who does custom apps for customers (the merchants). We normally request collaborator access, but it seems like the developer dashboard access is tied to the organization, so how should we be able to request access for that?

Also we are a bit confused about how the migration affects custom apps. We assume that we need to do migration since we have extensions within the custom apps, but the migration guide is a bit unclear to us.

It´s also a bit unclear how we should how we should install existing custom apps for the merchants through the dev dashboard. Will this feature stay in the partner dashboard? Which features will stay in the partner dashboard, if any?

To clarify - custom apps - apps developed for specific merchants using the partner portal.

We have tried accessing dev dashboards on Shopify Plus stores, but it appears the permission to access them is on the organization level. Which means that a merchant cannot assign the dev dashboard permission to a collaborator, since collaborators cannot have organization level roles (which is required for organization level permission)

Hi folks - just to confirm was your previous flow that you would create private apps for merchants from within their admin, which was accessible using a partner collaborator account. And now you need access to the developer dashboard to create custom apps?

We setup a collaborator request including app permissions and other permissions that we would need, which the merchant has to accept.
To create the custom app we would create it with CLI which would be accessible from Apps in Partner Portal. From the Partner Portal we would select the app and setup custom distribution for a specific store which creates a link for the merchant to install the app.
Will this functionality stay in Partner Portal or is everything being moved to dev dashboard?

Our organization now has access to the Dev Dashboard and it makes a lot more sense now.

We were interested in how to manage custom apps that we develop and those can be managed from our organization dev dashboard. We assumed that we would have to get access to all the customers organizations, but that does not seem to be the case, so in reality there is no issue for our purpose :+1:
