It appears a new section was added to the Thank You page when a subscription is being purchased informing the users they can manage their subscriptions by clicking the button.
This button just logs the user in to the system and goes to their Order’s page.
How I a change the link so that it properly directs the user to my subscription apps UI?
I have not been able to find any mention of this additional section in the changelog.
Hi @Matt_Insko
! This URL isn’t currently customizable. You could potentially use some other customization to direct them to an offsite URL (I am assuming this is what you mean by subscription apps UI?) This can be achieved through a custom UI Extension on the Thank You page or within the Orders page.
Thanks for the information. Did I miss a changelog post concerning this change?
Currently this new section cannot be removed from the Thank You page. Will stores be able to remove it in the future. It directs their customers to the wrong place to manage subscriptions?
@Matt_Insko This is part of the general Subscription feature support which has been out for several years so it isn’t new. Our customizations team does not have this on any public roadmap to allow customization. Thank you for the feedback. I will pass along this feedback to the team.
Would love to know if there will ever be a solution to this.
We have one physical product using native Shopify’s subscription app and other digital subscription products using a custom app. The native Shopify app cannot distinguish between the two and buying a digital subscription shows the subscription management button on the thank you page, taking the user to an empty state screen showing no subscriptions. Its very confusing to show the button for any subscriptions rather than just Shopify subscriptions, many people are creating custom subscription apps.
As a quick fix i thought i could edit the copy on the subscription management page to let a user know where they can go to manage their digital subs but even this is locked off making customers very confused.
The simplest solution is at least allowing this empty state notification in the sub management page to be changed but even better would be to only show the button on the thank you page if the subscription product was actually created by the native Shopify subscription app. Otherwise its just useless and befuddling to customers.
@Matt_Insko did you ever find a solution to this problem? I feel it will be a lot more common when people get bumped off the old thank you and order pages next month
Hi folks, thank you for your patience on this matter.
We’ll be removing the hard-coded version of that banner, and replacing it with a new Checkout UI extension only for merchants using the Shopify Subscriptions app.
Once it’s removed, app developers who want to provide a similar experience will be able to create their own solution (please see our reference thank you page extension for an example).
The hard-coded banner will be removed for all merchants on September 9, 2025.
