Hi there,
As I’m doing more enterprise Shopify projects, I’m trying to figure out a straightforward way to manage product releases across markets in Hydrogen.
These teams need to preview upcoming releases in the actual storefront, with each market launching independently. For example: preview a product today that launches in EMEA on Monday and APAC on Thursday.
Shopify Admin offers an Online Store preview, but I haven’t found an equivalent for Hydrogen. The workarounds all seem to come with tradeoffs:
- Separate Live and Preview storefronts: separate channel publication, but market catalog restrictions still apply.
- Market catalogs: excluding a product also hides it from Storefront API queries for that country.
- Visibility metafields: require checks across listings, search, recommendations, and direct URLs. They also don’t prevent purchases.
- Admin API reads: could retrieve unpublished products, but mean maintaining a separate data path for previews.
Basically, the publication rules that hide products from customers also hide them from our preview.
Am I missing a supported approach here? Any input would be welcome. It’d be nice to have a dedicated preview mode for products without changing live availability or rebuilding the publication logic ourselves.
Kind regards,
Wiebe
