How to get clients for a new Shopify Partner business

Hi there:

I am a new Shopify Partner and I would like to find out different ways to get clients (merchant referrals) for my business. I even have a website up showcasing my portfolio, etc. I have an Instagram and Facebook account where I post relevant content, I write blogs and I talk a lot about my services to other people. I joined some Facebook groups but whenever someone asks for help from a Shopify Expert, they never leave details and one of them even DMed me a scam link in Messenger.

I have some ideas that I am working on, but cold emailing is a no-go, and also advertising is a bit different with this business model (unless I can properly target the appropriate clientele in Facebook, if anyone wants to give me insight on targetable audiences and interests, that would be great).

If you are a Shopify Partner, please let me know how you got your clients when you first started out. I hear that I need at least 5 referrals to get into the Shopify Partner Directory.

Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Hey, @Stella_Siodmok - you’re on the right track here, these are all good methods to grow your client base. One other quick recommendation I can think of if you haven’t looked into this already is to sign up for eCommerce workshops or conventions and talk to folks about your services there.

I’m not sure where you’re located but a good resource for finding these are site like Meetup.com, etc. For example the Ecom Toronto MeetUp network runs regular events:

We also have folks who post invites to our events on the merchant forums here:

And there’s an unofficial Partner events group here (mainly focused on Toronto and Ottawa):

Hope this helps and best of luck!
