Inconsistent Switch Component Design Between Shopify Admin and New Polaris Unified Components

There are currently two different switch (toggle) designs in the Shopify

  • The first image shows the switch design used in the Shopify admin interface (darker, more compact).

  • The second image shows the new switch design provided to developers in the latest Polaris unified components (lighter, with label and description).

This creates a visual inconsistency between custom apps/extensions and the native Shopify admin UI. As a developer, it’s unclear which design is the “correct” one to use, and this inconsistency can make custom extensions look out of place or less professional.

Impact

  • Extensions and apps built with the new Polaris unified components do not visually match the native Shopify admin.
  • This can confuse users and reduce trust in custom extensions.
  • Developers are unsure which switch style to use for a consistent experience.

Question

  • Is this difference intentional, or is it a bug?
  • Will the new Polaris unified switch eventually match the admin’s design, or will the admin update to match the new component?

The unified Polaris design is the correct one; you’ve found a location in the Admin where the implementation hasn’t been updated to the latest designs.

Hey, its everywhere in admin, it not just one place, thats why I was confused, since I have never seen the new one in latest admin features.

Yeah, our design team has said that the admin should be moving to the new design as things get updated.
