One of our clients has requested help optimizing their live Shopify store’s performance, specifically removing unused JavaScript and CSS (based on DevTools Coverage tab showing high unused bytes from polyfills like math-intrinsics, has-symbols, call-bind, etc.).

I’ve heard from a merchant that Shopify offers a free one-time theme optimization service to remove unused code especially for stores needing speed improvements.

Can you please confirm:

  1. Does Shopify currently offer any free performance optimization service (e.g., removing unused JS/CSS, deferring scripts, etc.) for merchants even as a one-time courtesy?

  2. If yes, how can we request or “claim” this for a client store?

  3. If not, is there any official guidance or recommended path for safe theme optimization?

We’re trying to provide the best support without risking changes on a live store.

I’ve asked about this internally and there’s no free store optimisation services that are provided by Shopify. The closest would be the growth services performance services, but this is a paid service:
