We are enjoying the Inventory Transfers feature in Shopify however not having an updatedAt or modifiedAt field available in the object/query means that keeping Shopify in sync with our inventory platforms is problematic and means we need to fetch more orders than we would like to via the API. When a retailer starts to get more and more physical locations this Transfer Order features becomes very useful as it can put the stores in charge of their own stock.
Is this something we could request for a future release? It would also be great to have these fields on the inventoryPurchaseOrder object and related queries as well.
Yes, I can pass this on as a feature request for both transfers and purchase orders. The request should include an updated_at query filter alongside the timestamp field, so you can fetch records changed since your last sync. Those aren’t documented in the current 2026-10 API, and I don’t have confirmed plans for adding them.
For transfers, InventoryTransfer Events may help reduce polling in the meantime. You can subscribe to creation, deletion, and supported changes such as quantities, destination, status, and tags. You’d still need periodic reconciliation, and there’s no equivalent purchase-order topic in the current Events reference, so this only addresses part of the gap you’ve raised.
