My App Got rejected, again

Hi,

I’m in need of some help. My App Store got rejected again, and I do not understand why. I have the feeling it is miscommunication, or I’m doing something wrong.

I got rejected on two things:

  • Must Not be a Marketplace
  • Must not bypass Shopify Checkout.

Reasons:

  • Apps that allow merchants to turn their stores into marketplaces can’t be distributed through the Shopify App Store. During our screening, we still noticed that your app functions as a marketplace connector by allowing merchants to list and sync products directly to external third-party marketplaces, such as Bol.com.

  • Shopify can’t guarantee the safety or security of an order that has been placed through an offsite or third party checkout. Apps that bypass checkout or payment processing, or register any transactions through the Shopify API in connection with such activity, are prohibited. By functioning as a marketplace connector that syncs products to external third-party platforms like Bol.com for purchase, the app inherently directs transactions to occur off-platform.

I do not understand how to explain this better. We are an integrator. What we do is have Shopify users (or WooCommerce, Magento, etc.) have a platform where we integrate their Shopify store into our platform. Then in our platform, you can manage prices, products, stock, etc. So a PIM, a WMS, etc.

Users can sync products from our platform towards big online marketplaces like Amazon, eBay, Mirakl or Bol.com

So a productfeed, and when some orders something on Amazon, we sync that order to our Platform. Then, from our platform, we can (optional) sync products back to Shopify. Why? Due to stock correctness, but also because sometimes users have plugins or other things connected to their Shopify that need the orders (packaging, order slips, etc.).

What we offer is nothing fancy or special. It is widely available, worldwide also using apps in Shopify. Examples are: LitCommerce, Koongo, Channable, Productflow, Salestio,.

They all have approved apps, that do 100% the same as me for this use case.

Why do I get rejected? What do I do wrong here?

I know that marketplace apps are not permitted on the Shopify App Store:

  1. Apps that enable marketplace features - Apps that allow merchants to turn their stores into marketplaces can’t be distributed through the Shopify App Store.

RE: bypassing Shopify checkout - if merchants use your app, would it be possible for buyers to make payments to merchants outside of the Shopify checkout?

No none of those apply.

I’m not a marketplace. I’m a tool that integrates software together and provide a UI/dashboard.

So you can link Shopify to Amazon, similar to all the solutions i mentioned in my OP, all of those are approved and available on Shopify App Store.

To be clear. I’m not a marketplace. People cannot buy anything on my platform. Not consumers, not b2b. There is no checkout on my platform.

All i do is call API’s. Amazon,s Ebay, Accounting providers, Shopify, Woocommerce, etc etc.
