My unique app can't meet core requirements

My app is unique in the sense that Shopify users aren’t our clients, but the clients of our clients: accountants. I’m not sure how to proceed as the core requirements require immediate Shopify authentication which isn’t possible in my unique app.

Hi Ben,

Trying to understand this usecase, but we may need more info to advise on the best approach for you. The app will need to authenticate a Shopify store in order to install - there is no other alternative, but it also sounds like it will need to interact with data that is coming from the customer of the store?

If so, you may need to set up a middleware app that fetches the data from the clients of your clients, and that could send data to the Shopify app. Would that model work for you?

Hi Liam,

To give you a better understanding, the app works as follows. Accountants sign up to our app and invite their clients to the app. The clients can then login to a portal that allows them to connect Amazon, Ebay etc so that our app can pull sales data and automate accounting processes.

The flow for Shopify users would be as follows. They log into our app’s portal and then commence the Shopify OAuth flow.

If I understand correctly, it’s impossible to maintain that flow due to Shopify’s integration restrictions, so the solution is to build a middleware app that just “forwards” data to our app.

Are there any other possibilities our shall I start developing said app?

Regards,
Ben
