Order status page additional scripts is disabled for merchants , with no other alternative

With the deactivation of script tags API, the only way for merchants to show widget on legacy order status page is to insert code in to the “Order status page additional scripts” field in the Store Settings > Checkout page.

A merchant has notified me that this field is disabled for their store, and they are staying with legacy order status page as they have some other apps / requirement which they haven’t complete the migration yet.

Making this field disabled will render some apps that add widget to order status page useless for merchants who choose to stay on legacy order status page.

I hope Shopify can undo this action. Some merchants can’t even edit or remove existing code from the order status page script.

Thank you for the consideration.

Yes - we’ve disabled this for shops that don’t have any additional scripts. Note that this has been disabled for 1+ year, but there used to be a way to re-enable it in the UI.

Additional scripts are unsupported in the new version of the Thank you and Order status pages, and with the deadline to upgrade approaching soon, we reached a decision to limit increases in migration complexity.

For shops currently relying on additional scripts, we recognize the need to maintain ability to edit, but merchants without additional scripts should not be adding to their migration workload.

All merchants should now be focusing on reducing their dependency on legacy features, and building their shops in a way that is consistent with new standards.
