Payment customizations: make the first payment option default selected not working

In theory, after a payment customization reorder operation, the first payment method in the list should be selected by default (we’ve verified this across multiple stores). However, in this merchant’s case, even though their customization moves a payment method to the top, it still isn’t being selected by default.

As you can see here, the second option is default selected:

We’ve tested with an incognito window + with a new customer account without any success.

Could this be a bug on Shopify’s end? Maybe related to the language? Any insight is appreciated!

Yes, I’ve set up reorder payment customizations for many other merchants and the behavior is always that the first option is default selected, unless you click another one, in which case it seems that Shopify will remember your selection.

Unfortunately the merchant has disabled the COD payment method for now (which was the one put at the top by the payment customization), so I don’t know if you’d still be able to search for a solution for this.
