Hi everyone
I’m currently in the process of launching a post-purchase upsell app on the Shopify App Store and have just passed the review stage! One of the requirements for my app is to ensure that post-purchase offers work with manual payment methods, such as Cash on Delivery.
Right now, I have installed the application on a live store and the offers appear correctly when customers pay with a credit card. However, if a customer selects Cash on Delivery, the post-purchase offer does not display.
I’m aware that some apps are able to support manual payment methods, and I was hoping someone could guide me on this. Specifically:
- What steps are needed to make a post-purchase extension work with Cash on Delivery?
- Are there any Shopify limitations or special considerations I should be aware of?
Thank you in advance for any help!
Hi,
Post-purchase extensions are not supported on COD orders, from our docs “The post-purchase page won’t be surfaced when the initial purchase was made with a gift card or any payment method other than a credit card.”
See: About product offers
Hi Liam,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I get that the documentation says post-purchase extensions aren’t supported for COD orders, and that makes sense on the surface. But I’ve seen a few apps that seem to be showing post-purchase offers even when the payment method is Cash on Delivery such as Fuze: COD Post Purchase Upsell.
Is it possible there’s some kind of process or exception that Shopify Partners can go through to get this working? Just trying to understand if there’s something I might be missing.
Appreciate any insight you can share.
I’m not aware of any exception for this limitation.
