I’d like to know if it’s possible to create a public Shopify app that can inject a floating button on the storefront (for example, in the bottom corner of the page) and make it redirect to my external web app when clicked.
Would that be allowed for a public app, or would it only work as a private/custom app?

You most likely want to use Theme App Extesions:
But what do you want to redirect to an external web app, is this to checkout or anything?

It’s not for checkout — I just want to redirect users to my own external web app (for example, to complete a custom experience outside Shopify).
The idea is to add a button on the storefront that, when clicked, opens or redirects to my external web app URL.
I’m only wondering if this is allowed in a public app or if it would be considered a violation of Shopify’s guidelines.

I’m almost certain that would not be permitted on the Shopify App Store - is there any way you could recreate this on a Shopify store?
