I’m building an app that needs to use themeFilesUpsert and themeFilesDelete to programmatically create and manage alternate template files and snippets. This falls under the eligible use case of “developer tooling and testing functionality” as described in the Asset API documentation.
The app is still in development and not yet listed on the Shopify App Store. The Online Store Protected Scope Exemption Request form requires a Shopify App Store URL, which I don’t have yet.
Two questions:
- Can I submit the exemption request without an App Store URL since the app is in development? If so, what should I provide in that field?
- Is there a way to use the write_themes scope on development stores during the development phase before the exemption is granted, so I can build and test the functionality?
I’ve noticed a couple other posts on this without any reply from Shopifolk, so it would be good to get some clarification on this!
