Shop yearly billing vs carrier-service resource

the carrierService documentation states that the carrier service resource will fail unless the store installing your carrier service meets one of the following requirements:

  • It’s on the Advanced Shopify plan or higher.
  • It’s on the Shopify plan with yearly billing, or the carrier service feature has been added to the store for a monthly fee. For more information, contact Shopify Support.
  • It’s a development store.

I’ve just had a customer interact with Shopify support. Shopify support told my customer that the yearly option (in bold) does in fact not work, and the shop had to pay a monthly fee instead.

Furthermore, Shopify was working on a fix for the problem, and it would be ready within 3 months.

Could someone from Shopify confirm this information, and/or give an update on what is going on here?

I believe there was a recent bug where Carrier Calculated Shipping was not being automatically enabled on the annual professional plan as expected. I’d recommend that the merchant should contact support directly again to confirm if this bug is affecting them, and ask for an update.

thanks for the reply, maybe I did not communicate clearly, I would like to track the status of this issue directly via the partner / development team, not through a merchant and/or a support representative, so to get accurate information that I can use to advice my other merchants.

The status of this issue is that our team are working on a fix, but I don’t have an ETA on when it will be resolved.
