I’d like to know if anyone here has been able to install a google tag into their embedded environment within their app, to properly track ad conversions with google ads/google analytics.
Or is there another way to solve this?

Hi @L_Gerklev
I’m facing the same problem - have no clue on how to postback conversion to the ads platform (Google Ads). Let’s keep in touch
@Taras_Talimonchuk, I found the solution! Although Google Ads kept requesting a separate Google tag, it wasn’t needed because the GA4-Shopify connection was already firing events. The problem was between GA4 and Google Ads—default restrictions on my Google Ads account prevented access to all the data required for conversion tracking. Changing the Google Ads role from ‘viewer’ to ‘admin’ in the GA4 account linking resolved the issue. Hope this helps you too!
OR the issue was that Google Ads didn’t pick up events/conversions until they actually happened and that they were directly sourced through a google campaign (or it was simply a matter of needing admin privileges as mentioned in my previous post). What baffled me was that GTM wouldn’t work and that Google Ads kept insisting on installing a GTM/Google tag in the Shopify app code—even though GA4 was already receiving events…
Well, to summarize: once I set the account to admin and let the google ads run until conversions were recorded, everything worked.
thank you! Admin rights allowed to set it up
