Shopify sent me 2 million product update webhook events and made my server went 502, while the merchant only has 5200 products. Anyone can help me to understand this?

This does sound unusual - do you know if there were a lot of changes happening with each of the products variants as every change triggers the sending of a webhook event?
Also if the webhook deliveries are failing, they’ll be tried up to 8 times, which could have contributed to this spike? See:

Thank you for taking time to look into this issue.
We did not know what kind of products/variants changes triggered those webhooks. We only know the store ID, we don’t own this store.
We usually have 100K webhooks a day. But there were 500K success & 400K failed webhooks logged in the dev dashboard, and Shopify sent us 2 MILLION webhooks only in 1.5 hours yesterday, that saying almost 400 webhook per second, where made our server down for almost 1 hour.
These logs can be found in our dev dashboard, I believe it is worthy to conduct an investigation on your side.
We also got a 4-star (luckily not 1-star) review on the app store saying our app not is not working, during the downtime.
