We’re running an automated discount of 100% for certain products. The discount applies to a customer segment.
UK customers see the original price of £2 which includes VAT. However, when they go to checkout, a pop-up message appears indicating the original price has been updated to £1.67. It essentially doesn’t recognise VAT anymore.
When returning to the cart, the line item has an original price of £1.67, but returning to the product page itself still shows the correct original price of £2.00.
Has anyone seen issues with markets, taxes, and automated discounts? I’ve attached a quick video of the issue below.
Can you share any additional information about the product/tax setup (perhaps a screenshot of the product page + markets tax setting)?
I’ve tried with both a function based 100% discount, and a native Shopify 100% off discount and wasn’t able to replicate, so I imagine there’s some setting somewhere causing this.
We’re using a native Shopify 100% off discount but it’s based on customer segment. So only customers with a tag of vip will see the discount. There are times when I can go to checkout and see the correct pricing. However, if I change from UK shipping country to USA (taxes are removed), and then return back to UK we get the £1.67 price which is wrongly exclusive of tax.
Here’s some more info on set up:
Primary market is UK/GBP
Product is £2.00 and has charge tax on this product enabled.
