Switching from Managed Pricing to Manual Pricing (Billing API)

Hi team,

We have a published distribution app that’s already listed on the App Store and is currently being used by some merchants.

Right now, we’re not charging any fees and are using the managed pricing plan with a free tier.

We’d like to switch to using the Shopify Billing API (manual pricing) to allow us to create subscriptions and trials. Based on this document, this can be done from the Partner Dashboard settings.

We have a couple of questions before making the switch:

  1. If we change from managed pricing to manual billing, will our app need to go through the Shopify App Review again?
  2. What will happen to existing merchants already using our app once we switch pricing models? We want still using free charge but need to switch to manual pricing.

The reason we want to switch now is because we need to test real billing scenarios in the production environment (using real charges and our real store). This is important for cases we can’t test in development stores—like how downgrades behave (immediate or at the end of the billing cycle).

We’d appreciate your clarification on the above points before proceeding.
