Template not switching when selecting different one in the editor

Short description of issue

Switching templates in the editor doesn’t actually switch templates.

Reproduction steps

Go to the theme editor, select a different product template.

Additional info

Weird issue. I have 2 product templates (A and B), each are assigned to products. When I’m in the editor and select the B template, the editor shows a product using template B, yet I still get the settings from the A template and when I change anything, I am changing the A template.

I have to manually remove the section parameter from the url for the page to reload without a section loaded and then I get to see the correct template.

I’ve also tested this in an incognito browser, so caching shouldn’t be the issue.

This is really frustrating and confusing for the users.

Hey @yvony, thanks for flagging.

Does this only happen when a section is already selected and the editor URL contains the section=template--…__main parameter?

Could you also share the theme name/version, whether the templates or main product section are customized (assuming they are, but just wanted to confirm), and whether this reproduces on a fresh Dawn theme? A short screen recording of the template switch would also help.
