Unknown extension type: app-tools (Sidekick)

Hey,

I’m following the tutorial at Use extensions to surface app data

I’m trying to create app extension, but when I run command:

shopify app generate extension --template app-tools --name tools

I get error:

Unknown extension type: app-tools.                                                                                  
  The following extension types are supported: checkout_ui, post_purchase_ui, customer_account_ui, admin_action,      
  admin_block, admin_print, admin_purchase_option, conditional_admin_action, customer_segment_template,               
  product_configuration, discount_details_function_settings, validation_settings_ui, pos_action, pos_block,           
  pos_smart_grid, cart_checkout_validation, cart_transform, delivery_customization, discount, order_discounts,        
  product_discounts, shipping_discounts, discounts_allocator, fulfillment_constraints,                                
  local_pickup_delivery_option_generator, pickup_point_delivery_option_generator, payment_customization,              
  theme_app_extension, web_pixel, flow_action, flow_template, flow_trigger, flow_trigger_lifecycle_callback,          
  editor_extension_collection, admin_link, support_link, subscription_link_extension

Shopify cli version: @shopify/cli/3.88.0 darwin-arm64 node-v24.0.1

The app-tools template is not yet available in the public version of the shopify CLI. As this capability is still in Developer Preview, it’s not yet available to everyone, but it is coming soon. Please stay tuned!
