I’m running into an issue where I need to heavily customize my customer account pages using HTML and CSS. My current thought is to switch to legacy customer accounts to achieve this.
However, I’m concerned that legacy customer accounts might not be supported in the near future, especially since Shopify recommends using the new customer accounts.
My question is: If I switch to legacy customer accounts solely for the purpose of customizing these pages, what potential problems or issues might I encounter?
Any insights or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
@BrownTheFlower using legacy accounts would definitely provide the most customizability. With the new customer accounts option, you can customize using customer account extensions, but this is still more limited than the full customization available through the legacy customer account theme pages.
AFAIK there hasn’t been any official announcement regarding the deprecation of legacy customer accounts or any sort of timeline. In my opinion this won’t go away for a while since so many shops still rely on heavily customized legacy accounts, but it is something that will happen eventually.
At this time, there shouldn’t really be any actual problems with legacy customer accounts, although many new features being released by Shopify are only available with the new customer accounts option so you just wont have access to those.
