So I recently changed the pricing on my app. I made the changes and there were no errors to my listing.
Then I published a Sidekick extension. It immediately flagged one of the tools for some reason and I got a delist notice. I fixed it and it went away after 24 hours.
Today, I updated the Integrations in my app. I immediately got a vague email saying my app would be delisted (reference 50437). I don’t understand what exactly the issue is. I thought perhaps it was because I included Sidekick in the integrations list, so I removed it.
I’m just confused why the message refers to Sidekick extensions. Did my Sidekick update trigger a more thorough review? Are these two unrelated issues? Is it showing the wrong reason for failure in the email/banner?
Hey @DavidT, thanks for reaching out. In the forums here, we ultimately can’t say how App Review will assess the app as approval is up to them, but happy to help address the questions here and help a bit if I can.
The specific feedback asks you to add the annual plan to your website’s pricing page and ensure all pricing, trial, and charge details match the App Store listing. For Sidekick, I’d just make sure the deployed tools, extension configuration, runtime behaviour, and public listing all describe the same core functionality. Removing Sidekick from Integrations could create another mismatch if it’s still supported.
If the Sidekick banner remains after resubmitting, I’d open an authenticated Partner Support request through help.shopify.com to see if the exact review state can be checked. Hope this helps a little bit at least.
I wasn’t sure if the two notices were related but apparently they aren’t. The sidekick notice remains after the listing was fixed. It’s very frustrating that Sidekick is so limited and we can just get the notice at any time. I think I’ll likely end up removing it altogether since it doesn’t seem to work reliably. It’s too much of a liability to get the app delisted at any time.
I guess my complaint now is that the Sidekick messages are vague as to what exactly the problem is. And that it can pass one review but not another. If an automated system is going to be flagging it, it needs to list more details about why exactly the check failed.
Hey @DavidT - yeah, I definitely get where you’re coming from.
From what you’ve shared, the Sidekick notice doesn’t identify which tool or check failed, or what exact change is needed. I get why receiving a different result after it previously passed review makes the extension feel risky to keep enabled.
I can’t confirm from the forum whether the check was automated or why the result changed, but I’m happy to pass along the specific feedback that these notices need to identify the affected tool and provide an actionable remediation step. I can’t guarantee a change or timeline, but that’s the gap I’ll raise.
For this particular notice, Partner Support is still the best route to get the exact reason but if you still need more help after that, feel free to ping me here and I can look into it for sure.
