I am a theme developer and building my new shopify theme since 1 year. Recently I have seen that you have added a note on the “Theme Store Requirements” saying that new themes must not be derived from Dawn. My theme has uniquee design and many unique functionality. But the theme I started based on Dawn which is why some core functionalities are from Dawn codebase.
Can you help me out here? How much change should I need to make to the codebase? I am almost on the verge of submitting the theme. Now I have to change everything. What should I do?
If the theme is visually quite distinctive from Dawn and includes features and functionality that is not within Dawn, then you can still submit and have this theme hosted on the Shopify Theme Store. The requirement you’re referring to is to prevent submissions where themes are simply forks of Dawn with minor adjustments.
