What happens to active subscriptions when a product is suspended?

Hello,

If a product is suspended (e.g., due to a DMCA takedown or other reasons), what is the impact on existing active subscription contracts?

  1. Will customers still receive their products according to the delivery policy?
  2. Will they still be charged according to the billing policy?

Thanks!

Hello @simposk,

Thank you for reaching out.

To answer your question:

  1. Will customers still receive their products according to the delivery policy?

Only if a billing attempt succeeds and an order is created for that cycle. If the variant still exists and inventory can be allocated, the order is created and can be fulfilled on the cadence defined by the delivery policy. If the product variant doesn’t exist or unpublished, the order would still be create with a custom line item and fulfilled on the cadence defined by the delivery policy.

  1. Will they still be charged according to the billing policy?

They’ll be charged when your app performs the billing attempt on the billing schedule. If the attempt succeeds, the customer is charged and an order is created. If it fails, no charge is made for that cycle.

I hope this answer your question.
