From reading the API release schedule and this Polaris section in the same doc
Only the last four stable versions have published docs on Shopify.dev. Older versions continue to work, but won’t have dedicated reference docs. Shopify CLI prevents deploys targeting versions older than 12 months.
My interpretation is that from the 2nd July, or perhaps the 17th July 2026, if I attempted to deploy a UI extension using the 2025-07 API version, shopify CLI would reject it. I’d also interpreted that the API version would be automatically be bumped to 2025-10 in July.
This changelog today suggests the automatic bumping of 2025-07, and the blocking of deploys will not happen until 1st October 2026
Shopify CLI blocks apps from being updated if any of their extensions are on an API version that is more than 1 year old. By October 1, 2026, any app that contains checkout and customer account UI extensions on API versions 2025-07 or earlier will be unable to be updated.
Can someone please confirm for that a) 2025-07 versions will not be automatically bumped before 1st October and b) deploys using 2025-07 will not be blocked until 1st October.
Thanks.
