In which of these areas are you experiencing a problem?

Expected behavior

Allow Partners to setup Github-based themes, clients aren’t technical.

Actual behavior

Hoping this a document error and not something new.. it states that only Staff users can setup Github-based themes and not collaborators - can someone confirm?

Thank you for noticing and reporting this.
The merchants that we are working with as a partner, rely on us to provide technical support. That includes setting up the GitHub integration.
Moreover, they sometimes don’t even have a GitHub account, but rely on the functionality for version control, rollback, etc.

If this introduced restriction will not be lifted, it essentially deprecates the GitHub integration for all of my merchants, as they are not able to set it up.

In the end, they will just give us their Shopify account credentials, so we can do it for them, and I assume Shopify would not like account sharing to become more widespread

Really, really, REALLY hope this is a mistake in docs but given we’ve got some people saying they’re encountering this already makes it seem less likely.

Only allowing staff accounts for Github integration makes it that much harder for merchants to embrace good development practices. It’s not the merchants job to be technical or even know what git is, let alone Github.

This makes absolutely no sense.
