Hi,
Greetings!
We created a public app using Admin GraphQL APIs(version: 2024-07). This was also reviewed.
We need customer’s information like email address, phone number etc. We had
requested access for Protected Customer Data(the customer name, email, phone was not requested specifically)
We are getting errors when we try to access the fields like email address for the customer.
“This app is not approved to use the email field”.
Where have we gone wrong? It doesnt seem to be clear.
Do we need to request access for Customer email, phone, address separately?
Can anyone please help in fixing this issue?
Also if we the access has to be requested what is the typical time taken by Shopify
in granting the same?
Thanks,
Srinivasa Pradeep
Do you have the scopes required the view that data?
You can see in the partner dashboard if you’ve got access to view Protected Customer data

Yes we are using read_customer as one of the scopes. This would help us read the customer data.

I am checking the status. It is in draft status for the couple of days.
Without the customer information, we cant make the app visible to the merchants to install
If it is in draft then you need to complete it and submit it.
Draft means you have not completed it, you can click manage, fill it all out and submit it.
Once reviewed you will get access.

Thanks a lot for pointing that the request was in draft status. I since have updated the reasons and submitted for review. Hopefully i can get a positive response from the Shopify team.
This was our first app and got confused with the save draft for submit action.
Thanks once again for pointing this out.
