I have created a Shopify app that does not include a UI within the Shopify admin. Instead, I’ve built an external website where merchants/admins can manage the app, handle subscriptions, and perform all related actions.

The merchant/admin only needs to install the app from the Shopify App Store.

My questions are:

  1. Can I submit this app for review?
  2. If yes, do I need to provide login credentials or authentication access to my external website for the reviewers?
  3. If the app is approved, and all payments are handled externally on my website, do I still need to pay any commission to Shopify?

Hi @Amith_M

  1. Yes, you can certainly try, but most likely the Session Token automated verification will fail and block you from submitting
  2. No, Shopify reviewers will only review apps that can be accessible solely from a Shopify merchant account
  3. Most likely not. But Shopify doesn’t take a commission on sales until you hit $1 million per year in revenue. It’s not a factor for just starting out.
